A double shower...

A couple weeks ago my family and I threw a double shower for my cousins Kari, who is getting married next month and my cousin Kathryn who was expecting twin girls in July. My mom and I arrived at my grandma's house to set up and found out that Kathryn had been admited to the hospital the night before and would be missing the shower. I was so sad she would miss the shower, but hoped everything would be ok. She ended up having the girls that evening and they seem to be doing well! Here is my wonderful cousin opening a gift from my grandma.
We made the theme of the shower, "The family tree is growing" to include a marriage and babies, we went mostly with trees and birds. I am a sucker for cute birds and owls, in case you haven't noticed :)

The cake, which addie thuroughly enjoyed picking whoppers off of, she is adorable!

My first attempt at a diaper cake, this was so fun to make, I think I will have to make some more in the future.

This is one of the carrier covers I made for Kathryn, (group gift from the ladies in my fam)

This is the other cover, again, sucker for birds!

Casen and my cute cousin Nikki's baby Hope. She is so cute and only 3 months old, but the same size as Casen who was 8 1/2, oh my little shrimp boat!

My beautiful cousins and beautiful sister lori

My beautiful and wonderful cousin Kari and I. Kari is marring the cutest guy next month and I am so happy for them!! Kari and I have always been close and even had the best friend necklaces when we were little, oh you know you had them too!!
I am so excited for Kari, Steve, Kathryn and Rob and my Aunt and Uncle to get their first son-in-law and first grand babies. Thanks to everyone who came and everyone who helped out!

What we've been up to...

Keagan had his turn for "show and teach," he knew immediately that he wanted to show his class how to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (he is the family pro, almost as good as grandpa). It was so fun to watch him in action in front of the class. After the teaching was done he passed out little sandwiches to all of his classmates, luckily none of which had peanut allergies.

Enjoying the fruits of his labors.

Kaiden had a dentist appointment about 45min away from our house last monday for an oral sedation. We drove all the way there, they took him back to his room, gave him the sedation medicine which he quickly drank and then spit all over the chair. Yeah, we got to schedual an IV sedation and drive all the way home. Hurray for 1 1/2 hours travel time for a 10 minute appointment. Oh well, what do you do- my kids have the gag reflex down better than most.

We joined the Rameys and Whalens at the park last week for family night. It was such a nice day and we had so much fun just chillin with some good friends. Thanks everybody!!

Brent had quite the crowd of little ones admiring his fly fishing skills.

The Family :)

So, maybe 8 month olds shouldn't be eating entire corndogs, but he was enjoying it way too much to take it away!!

OH the delights of mud!!

My cute little niece wanted an apron to wear to her class breakfast that her mom was helping with, this is what we came up with. She looked so cute!

Kelly's buddy Brian had a birthday shin dig so Martha and I tried our best at marshmallow fondant. So much fun to use and I for sure will be making this edible play dough for the kiddos to eat in the future. Anyway, this was easy lots of fun, if you are interested in making this stuff you can find the instructions at http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm . It's kinda messy for the first few minutes, but if you slather everything with crisco, it's great.

The kiddos played outside until Keagan came in gushing blood from his nose. (Head crash with Parris, who is super tough and wasn't even affected). They played downstairs for the rest of the evening.

Camden thoroughly enjoying a mixture of chocolate cake and watermelon, yum!

Enjoying the fights, gotta love UFC and good company, thank you Stangers!!!

The ladies... Karen, me and Martha. Love you guys!

Where did I go wrong?

Yesterday the kids and I were driving down the freeway when Kaiden spotted the Y on the mountain. Keagan made some fun remark like, I wish I had a bunch of dynamite then I would blow that Y up (totally influenced by his father on that other red team). So non-violent. I replied that our church owns BYU and that would be very sad for our church if something happened to that school because it would cost a lot of money for the church to rebuild it.
Keagan's response, "Our church owns BYU? No wonder I don't like going there!"
I asked, "where?"
Keagan, "To Church!"

It is monents like this where I feel like my degree from BYU in Marriage, Family and Human Development is really benefiting my family!! (I am rocking this parenting thing!!)

Oh Eyeballs!

So, usually Camden is the cause of trouble, this time he was the recipient. The boys were all playing out back and Kaiden found an old broken shovel under the deck. Somehow the jagged broken end of the handle ended up in Camden's eye. Needless to say we were off to the eye Dr. who was amazing! Camden did so well, held still while his head was in the big head vice thing, looked exactly where the Dr. asked him to and he even let the Dr. put in drops 3 times withoug a single objection! (Blessings from heaven!) So, with a massive corneal abrasion, lubrication drops (to be dropped hourly) and an antibiotic, we were out of there. Camden has to stay completly out of any wind, and has to avoid sunlight. He has been rocking the sunglasses and looking so cool. He is a little trooper, the Dr. said this is a very painful injury and an adult would not handle it as well as he has. The Dr. also said he will not have any permanant damage to his eye. There are definitly guardian angels watching little boys!
(This picture was taken on day two, already looking so much better! Little bodies heal so fast.)
